The Colors in Effect
The Colors
In the world of hacking there are three
different colors that operate daily based on color and personality. These
colors include white, gray and black. White Hacking is when a person is
certified and has permission to break into people’s systems to see if there are
any vulnerabilities and how the system can be better. This color has a no malicious
intent as they are paid on salary and are trusted individuals. Before we get to
gray hat, we must explain first a black hat. This color is the opposite of good,
these are the people who penetrate a system to gain financial wealth. Black
hats can go a variety of ways to hack. There is a common method called phishing
when they send an email and the user type their credentials in and the hacker
has the information. They will begin to text the user and blackmail for money,
or they will release the information. In
order to be a white hat hacker, you must know how the blacks' hats operate and
this is when gray hat hacking comes in the story. Gray hat hackers are the color
which is kind of tricky. They will penetrate a system without permission and
either inform the employer or make it better and then inform the employer, but
in my research, there is also another explanation to gray hat hacking. The
article White hat, black hat, grey hat: Are
cybersecurity professionals switching allegiances? This article provided the true side of white
hat hackers. The article stated that white hat hackers participate in
cybercrime or have been approached to participate in cybercrime. The article
stated that black hat criminals can make an excess of $166,000 excess per month
(Anonymous, 2018). This article gave us the earning of an entry position in
ethical hacking is sixty thousand and top earners make around one hundred and
thirty thousand a year (Anonymous, 2018). The different type of hackers varies
the most important thing is to don’t trust anybody if you hire one and know
rules and regulations when it goes to having your website or network tested.
